Friday-a long week

Morning Folks/Friends/Family,

Sai was looking that bit better yesterday but very very nauseous really hardly able to talk when like that and just has to be in his own kind of vacuum.Dr Walsh came around while i was there (she's covering for Ray McDermott as he's on holiday this week and is also a consultant)and said she wanted to take out the stomach drain as one's open to infection with that there but Sai said can we wait as he just felt so 'crap'.She said we'll see today but would be happier with it out.I asked her what if the fluid started to build up again and she said that they would put another drain in another site but there's a good chance that that won't happen as the fluid has really tailed off which is great. We were told originally that it could take 2-3 weeks for the chemo to start working on the fluid but I'm sure she knows what she's talking about.

I did text Sai there and he's feeling bit better again but has stomach pains after breakfast but I'm glad he's eating as he's hardly eaten a thing in past two days.I'll take him in some juiced veg.Well at least the chemotherapy is working away on the you know what-we'll get him well and over this-another huge hurdle but Sai has willpower as we know and we'll be right there beside him pushing him on.

Did you see the newspapers yesterday 'The Cancer Generation' was the title.Too much drinking,smoking,eating,sun-bathing....I suppose a lot of that is to do with a booming economy....The front doors at Tallaght Hospital are usually surrounded by people, most of them patients smoking away-a lot of them with huge bandages on or drips attatched or on crutches/wheelchairs!? I don't get that, how can they smoke when they're obviously not well? I know it's an addiction but is your health not more important?Someone wants to make a smoking area away from the doors, well away,it looks dreadful.

So Sai will be getting two inputs of chemotherapy every fortnight along with an antibody which is similar to the Avastin he had last time but it's a different type which he'll be getting every week -'Cytoplaxman'? that doesn't look right but it's similar to that. The other 2 are Irintocan (?) and 5FU which is the pump that he'll wear and have disconnected after 2 days.So 6 months of this and we'll get back on track to getting rid of this for good.

Jan thanks for your e mail-it really made me give myself a bit of a shake and get more focused on the situation :)

Sai still not up to visitors at the moment as you can probably guess-one day at a time-onwards and upwards! E. x
