It sure was a busy day today. I had a visit from the district stoma care nurse and was told that the "protrusion" (lower colon outlet) is normal. She mentioned that she had seen some that are longer than mine. Which kinda scares me a bit as I think it is already long and big enough . She mentioned that the pain I am experiencing is not normal and I should get it checked out. So tomorrow I will seek out the stoma nurses and ask them about it. I might even seek out the one of the Professor Keane team to ask them too. In the meantime I am taking Zydol pain killers to help ease the pain.
Elaine suggested that to help control the leaks I should put a nappy bag around my stoma bag. I did and it is working a treat. It help to ease my mind a bit. But I think it will only work if I am sitting up right or standing. Sleeping lying flat may not work so well...
We also had a visit from the Sky engineer. He came out to replace the kids Sky+ box as it was not recording their programs. I forgot to mentioned that it usually cost €100 for this call out but when I called Sky up. I already self diagnosed that the box was faulty and the operator give us a free call out. I also mentioned that we were still recovering from Christmas blues and could not afford the fee. BTW all is true...
We had our oil delivered today. I restarted the boiler and we now have heat again...Yippee !!! Last night was not as cold as last weeks but I put on my tammie to help to conserve my body heat. Despite the warmth my feet had been like blocks of ice all day. Feet and finger tips are numb now. Two more to go....
Tomorrow is number 11...Elaine had packed me an overnight bag in case I need to be kept in to sort out my stoma. So finger crossed that that may not happen...
Anyway I have to sleep now as I need to get up early to go to the hospital tomorrow...
