Doodrums !!!

Good Morning Folks,


I was a bit under the weather yesterday and was not in a good mood the latter halve of the day. I felt tired and groggy. After a relaxing bath and a good night sleep I feel much better today. I hope this to continue...

Yesterday the public health nurse came to visit and to change my dressing on my side..wow no bag there now and its something I never imagine back during the early days...a small discomfort, but is much better than what I had. I am not sure if Elaine mentioned that during my stay in hospital and after my small drain was taken out. That part of the incision burst last Thursday night. Well there is a small gap in my side now, I was informed by the nurse that incisions like these after bursting heals from inside out...I never knew that. I thought I will have a small crater there for the rest of my life. Anyway as if by chance that is now itching. I think I scratched it during the night as I can now see some blood on the dressing. The nurse packed it with a special clotting dressing with some chemical to stop it from becoming infected yesterday. I assume it will keep till tomorrow as the nurse is due back to change the dressing again.

On the subject of Public Health nurse. We only found out that they should had been informed from the start about me as they can provide additional support for Elaine and I during the period that I was been treated with chemo. During the follow up yesterday, the public health nurse had organised a special mattress for me and a cushion to sit on. She will also try and get in touch with the palliative care team to come and visit me. She said I will require diet and physiotherapy advice...well its a relieve to hear. We never knew any of this was available...

Well I better get a move on...we are off to pick up the mattress and cushion from Navan hospital.
