Saturday 6th Oct 07

Evening Folks,

Sai slept well last night and most of today.I went in at tea time and his blood pressure was low,so they stopped his morphine (it's in via epidural) and obviously he started to feel the pain.Once his bp came back up the morphine was put back on.The nurse called the anesthetist a few times over the 2 hrs as he has to be informed and give instruction on procedures. He is still settled now as I just called them so hopefully he'll have a good nights sleep.

I had a good chat with Miriam, the reg as she's on call tonight and was nice enough to come up and talk with me.She was in with Prof this morning when he saw Sai and he was happy with Sai at that point ie stitches etc.His stitches are quite tightly done i think for quick healing and to lessen chance of infection-i think, not too sure.Anyway,i had paper and pen and Miriam drew exactly what happened and what was discovered during surgery. So the reason Sai had the horrible pain all this time is a tumour is blocking his small intestine and pressing onto the stomach. That couldn't just be removed as there are other small tumour deposits on the peritoneum (stomach lining) and it can be very tricky to rejoin when such a tumour is removed.I know they have done the best thing and Prof Keane has seen everything in his years as a surgeon so he knows his stuff. So he'll recover from this surgery and get back on chemotherapy asap.He does react very well to chemo so that's the plan.

My mum's just pointed out the fog to me-it's like pea soup out there! It was a little foggy on way home from hospital and i was looking for the fog light just in case but couldn't find one -we didn't have this car last winter so don't think I'm being thick!-but my mum said they don't put them in cars anymore and aren't legal?eh? never heard about that one,is that right? I will check the manual tomorrow and yes,i do know how to pop the bonnet!

So hopefully tomorrow Sai will be feeling a good bit better.I'm just glad he's alive right now.Thank God the coin landed on the right side.Goodnight,E. x
